Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how OUI Resolve ("we", "us") handles information when you use ouiresolve.com (the "Service"), a free tool that resolves MAC addresses and OUI prefixes to their registered vendors.

1. Information we collect

We have designed the Service to collect as little as possible. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for personal information to use the tool.

Lookup input you enter

When you submit a MAC address or OUI prefix, it is first checked against data stored on our own site. If we cannot resolve it locally, the 6-character OUI prefix may be sent to third-party vendor databases to complete the lookup (see "Third-party services" below). A MAC address is a hardware identifier; we do not attempt to link it to your identity, and we do not store your lookups in a way that identifies you.

Automatically collected technical data

Like most websites, our hosting provider may record standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, device information, referring page, and timestamps. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate traffic measurement.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

The Service itself sets few or no first-party cookies. However, third-party services we use — in particular Google AdSense and Google Analytics — may set cookies on your device. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not break the lookup tool.

3. Google AdSense and advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. To serve ads, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies. Specifically:

For more detail, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

4. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymized usage (such as page views and general location at the country level). Google Analytics sets its own cookies. You can opt out site-wide using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Third-party services

To maximize accuracy and uptime, an unresolved OUI prefix may be sent to one or more public vendor-lookup APIs (currently maclookup.app and macvendors.com). Only the OUI prefix needed to identify the manufacturer is sent — never any personal data. These providers operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

6. Data retention

We do not maintain user profiles. Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operational purposes and are then deleted or anonymized. Advertising and analytics data are retained according to Google's policies.

7. Children's privacy

The Service is a technical utility intended for a general, professional audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing such as personalized advertising. Because we do not build identifiable user profiles, most requests relate to the advertising and analytics cookies described above, which you can control directly through the opt-out links provided. To make a request, contact us using the details on our Contact page.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised policy.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@ouiresolve.com, or via our Contact page.
